“I’m a WordPress developer so I have experience with many hosting service provider.
HostGator is the worst hosting provider I’ve ever known.They are not as they advertised. If you send them a ticket, no matter how important it is, you have to wait 4 weeks to 8 weeks to get response.
I don’t lie. I sent them a ticket regarding email issue and I had been waited for a month before they response “Please check if the issue is still and let us know, then I will escalate this to my server manager” :)) and you know that? After 8 weeks, they could not fix the issue and asked me to pay more to use their delicate server.
3 days ago, I could not change my CP password. The Submit button on their page did not allow me to submit the changing request. I sent them a ticket and so far I have not received any response from them.
Don’t trust their chat support. It doesn’t help at all. If you wanna talk with them via chat, be ready to wait 30-45 minutes. Comparing to Siteground, my other hosting provider, every problem must be fixed within 30′. In most case, they fixed within 10 minutes.
HG is cheap, I know. But you will get what you pay for. Be a smart customer.”

“HostGator used to have the best support team I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Recently, not so much. I am currently into over an hour and 20 min into the 4th call for the same issue of a spammer sending messages with forged From our domain. Should be simple to fix as we have an SPF record in place. Asked for tier 2 support and it looks like the team that didn’t even know what an SPF record was is all they have available.
